Antonio Passolini spent much of his early
life as a test monkey, enduring painful lab experiments in which
mascara was dabbed on his eyeballs and electrodes attached to his
scrotum. Thanks to the efforts of the Army of the 12 Monkeys, he
was freed in the early 1980's. A baboon from the papio anubis family,
Passolini turned his interests to exploring the strange and often
perplexing carnal desires of his evolutionary cousin known as homo
sapiens. From this unique point of view, he has endeavored to create
movies that capture that certain je ne sais quoi that is the human
condition. With a lot of sex thrown in for good measure.After he developed and wrote the Caballero hit, Stiff Competition under the name Colin DeTacqu, Passolini adopted the name Johnny Jump-Up and wrote numerous Dark Bros. classics including Black Throat, Deep Inside Vanessa Del Rio, and Devil in Miss Jones 3 & 4. He also wrote and performed the music for a number of Dark's features. Before embarking on his own directorial career, Passolini was the executive producer and writer of Michael Ninn's seminal works, Latex and Shock. Passolini made his debut as a director with Cafe' Flesh 2, which garnered wide critical praise and won the 1998 AVN "Best Video Feature" award. His second video opus, Devil in Miss Jones 6, has proved so far to be the best renting tape of 1999 according to Adult Video News. His newest feature, Bliss, departs from his characteristically offbeat style in favor of a more dramatic, yet decidedly dark flavor. He is currently in production on his fourth feature, as yet to be titled.
